ॐ जय सरस्वती माता आरती – Lyrics
Lyrics follow the most widely sung version. Regional variations exist.
Om Jai Saraswati Mata Meaning
The aarti hails Saraswati, rich in virtue and glory and famous in all three worlds. Her moon-like face and lotus seat spread auspicious light; she rides a graceful swan and carries unmatched radiance.
She holds the veena in her left hand and a rosary in her right, with a jewelled crown on her head and a pearl necklace at her throat. Whoever takes refuge in her is uplifted. The aarti also recalls the belief that she entered the mind of the maid Manthara, setting in motion the events that led to Ravana's end.
As the giver of learning and wisdom, she is asked to fill us with the light of knowledge and remove delusion and darkness from the world. The devotee offers incense, lamp, fruits and dry fruits, and asks for the eye of wisdom. Whoever sings this aarti receives knowledge and devotion.
